data.ai alternatives

There is no data.ai to buy anymore. Sensor Tower acquired it in March 2024 and folded the platform, the datasets, and part of the team into its own product through 2025 — the brand survives mainly as “Sensor Tower (formerly data.ai)”. Anyone searching for a data.ai alternative in 2026 is really asking: where did each piece go, and what does it cost to follow it?

The honest answer depends on which data.ai you were using — the market-intelligence estimates, the free store stats, or the ASO tooling. They went to different places.

2010Founded as App Annie; its free Store Stats becomes the default way to browse app-store ranks.
2021Pays $10M to settle SEC securities-fraud charges over confidential analytics data feeding its public market estimates.
2022Rebrands to data.ai.
2024Acquired by Sensor Tower; reports put staff cuts near half of data.ai's ~400 people.
2025Platform and datasets fully merged; the standalone data.ai product is gone.

If you used data.ai for market estimates

Follow the data: Sensor Tower is the official successor — the data.ai panels now feed its estimates, and the two datasets were unified through 2025. Expect enterprise pricing (most contracts reported at $30k–$150k/yr). If that's out of range, AppMagic sells download and revenue estimates at mid-market prices, with a free tier to sanity-check its numbers first.

If you used data.ai for ASO

The keyword and listing work never needed a market-intelligence contract. openaso covers it free, built API-first for AI agents: live per-storefront ranks, autocomplete suggestions, keyword demand with Apple's real Search Ads popularity where available, listing audits against Apple's actual matching model, reviews, charts, and managed daily tracking. The limits, honestly: Apple App Store only, and no download estimates of any kind.

Questions people actually ask

Is data.ai still available?

No. Sensor Tower acquired it in March 2024 and completed the platform merge through 2025. Existing customers were migrated; there is nothing left to sign up for.

What happened to data.ai's free tier?

It went away with the platform. The nearest free equivalents today are openaso for ranks, keywords, reviews and charts (500 API calls/day) and AppFollow's free plan for review workflows.

Is data.ai the same as App Annie?

Yes — App Annie renamed itself data.ai in February 2022, and that company is what Sensor Tower bought in 2024.

Do data.ai's numbers still exist anywhere?

The panels and historical datasets were folded into Sensor Tower's estimates — that continuity is the main reason to follow the data there rather than re-baseline with another vendor.
