甲骨文，又称契文、甲骨卜辞、或龟甲兽骨文，是中国目前已知最早的成系统的文字形式，为世界四大古文字之一。它具备了象形、指事、会意、形声、转注、假借等造字方法，标志着已进入了成熟阶段。殷墟甲骨文是殷王朝占卜的记录，中国古代甲骨占卜有着悠久的历史，殷墟时期则是占卜最盛行的时期，商王和贵族几乎每事必卜，占卜成为商代社会生活的重要组成部分。甲骨的纳贡、收贮、整治、钻凿及占卜方法、程序和卜辞的语法、辞例等形成一套严格而有系统的制度。据甲骨文记载，殷代已有专门掌管占卜和纪录的贞人，见于卜辞的贞人约有上百人。占卜涉及内容包括祭祀、天象、年成、征伐、王事等，甚至于商王游猎、疾病、做梦、生子等。商代以后，甲骨占卜逐渐失去了其显赫地位。殷墟甲骨文的发现，见证了已经消逝的商代占卜制度，为研究中国文化史提供了重要的材料。…
